However, Ireland’s captain, Gaby Lewis, admitted that her bowlers struggled to contain England’s initial onslaught. “The way they attacked that powerplay put our bowlers under the pump and we struggled to build pressure,” Lewis said. Captain’s Verdict
England captain Charlie Dean praised her side’s clinical finish while maintaining a focus on future improvements. While she lauded the batting performance as a “blueprint on how to bat in 50-over cricket,” she acknowledged that there was work to be done in the field.
“We probably could have been tighter with the ball, to be honest,” Dean admitted. “But to restrict them and then put a performance like that was brilliant.”
