A fresh diplomatic row has erupted between India and Nepal over the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route via Lipulekh Pass. Nepal has objected to the pilgrimage route, claiming the region falls within its territory, while India has rejected the claim as unjustified and historically inaccurate. The dispute, rooted in differing interpretations of the 1816 Sugauli Treaty, involves the strategically significant areas of Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiyadhura. As Kathmandu raises the issue with both India and China, the development could test bilateral ties under Nepal’s new government. Both countries, however, have indicated willingness to resolve the matter through dialogue.
