Ravi Teja’s ‘Irumudi’ Storms Past Rs 100 Crore Milestone as Second Weekend Kicks Off

Ravi Teja’s latest cinematic outing, Irumudi, has officially entered the coveted “100 Crore Club.” The emotional social drama achieved this significant domestic milestone on its eighth day of release, bolstered by a massive surge in footfall as it entered its second weekend.

A Powerful Second Friday

After concluding its first week with an impressive India net collection of Rs 92.15 crore, Irumudi showed no signs of slowing down. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film raked in an estimated Rs 9.70 crore net on its second Friday, marking a staggering 40.6% growth compared to its seventh-day performance of Rs 6.90 crore.

This performance is particularly notable given that the movie maintained a high occupancy rate of 66.3% across 2,516 shows, proving that the film’s narrative continues to resonate deeply with audiences.

Language and Regional Performance

The film’s success remains overwhelmingly driven by its Telugu version, which accounted for Rs 9.69 crore of the Friday earnings. The Telugu release was supported by 2,483 shows, with peak interest seen during night screenings, which hit a stellar 77.92% occupancy. The Tamil version contributed a modest Rs 1 lakh.

Geographically, the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remain the primary powerhouses, contributing Rs 10.25 crore to the daily gross. Additional support came from Karnataka (Rs 70 lakh), the rest of India (Rs 20 lakh), Tamil Nadu (Rs 9 lakh), and Kerala (Rs 1 lakh).

Global Reach

Beyond domestic borders, Irumudi is carving out a solid international presence. With an additional Rs 75 lakhs generated from overseas markets on Day 8, the film’s cumulative international gross has reached Rs 18.50 crore. When combined with its domestic performance, the movie’s total worldwide gross currently stands at an impressive Rs 136.70 crore.

A Story That Resonates

Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film explores the nuanced complexities of fatherhood and faith. Starring Ravi Teja as Trinadha, a devout Ayyappa follower battling alcoholism, the story beautifully juxtaposes his journey against the parenting philosophy of Gopal Raju, played by Sai Kumar.

In its review, ETimes highlighted the film’s emotional depth, noting: “Irumudi is, at its heart, less about faith than fatherhood… Shiva Nirvana juxtaposes these contrasting parenting approaches with remarkable restraint, allowing their emotional consequences to speak louder than words.”

As the film continues its theatrical run, experts suggest that the positive word-of-mouth surrounding the Irumudi box office collections will likely propel it to even greater heights during the remainder of the weekend.
