An even more intense wave of heat than what we have just experienced could soon arrive, with sweltering conditions forecast
The UK’s ‘hottest ever day’ could be just weeks away, with the country set to experience temperatures of over 40C. An even more intense wave of heat than what we have just experienced could soon arrive, with sweltering conditions forecast.
With records tumbling this week, weather forecasters are warning of the warmer figures which could arrive during the second week of July. Fresh weather maps show that temperatures may exceed the current UK record, after the hottest June day in the country’s history came on Friday, with thermometers showing 37.3C.
The all-time record stands at 40.3C, and was set during the exceptionally hot 2022 July heatwave, but it is unclear how long that will remain the case. The first signs are expected from July 8, when temperatures could reach between 30C and 35C, according to WX Charts.
The heat is then expected to intensify, with weather models for July 10 indicating that temperatures could approach 40C in some areas with 37C-39C being the more widespread numbers. The most extreme conditions are for July 11, where some parts of the country could hit a maximum of 41C.
If this July forecast proves to be accurate, then a considerable amount of the country could meet the criteria for an official heatwave, with the threshold for that varying between 25C and 28C, depending on the county and where exactly in the UK it has been recorded.
